Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
West Brom didn't go down because of a dodgy defence.

They were set up by Pulis to draw or scrape 1-0 wins.

Even when Quagmire Pardew took over the problem they had was scoring more than one goal but I don't recall too many heavy defeats.

He would be better than Ogbonna who has the turning circle of an oil tanker...

V doesn't see value, but he does see dead people.

"I think Hegazi and Dawson would both improve us"

"I don't see value there"

Classic V.

Devo

and two, possibly three, of those you have mentioned will play wingback.

I don't care if Reid leaves, he's turned into a right old sicknote, Ogbonna I'd keep though

Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
If we're getting a whole new defence what's going to happen to Ogbanna and Reid.

Diop; Reid; Ogbanna; Cresswell; Dawson possible; Fredericks; Zabaletta

That's a lot of defenders considering we mostly play 3 at the back

Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
Evans likely got a huge signing bonus and big wages, so the headline figure is deceiving, the total deal would likely have been more.

Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
Not the most inspiring of potential signings I have to say.
As someone pointed out stinks of Sullivan and we’ve already missed out on their best defender Johnny Evans for a quarter of the price!

Did you watch our experienced premier league defence last season? That was a disaster.

Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
a defence that never played in the prem is a recipe for disaster.

Don't you think we need a whole new defence? I do, apart from left-back.

Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
Jesus we'll end up with practically a whole new defence. That will take a while to settle.

Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
I think Hegazi and Dawson would both improve us, personally. Obviously they were part of a better defence than ours, Dawson for a number of seasons. It's all about price. Unless there are clauses I don't see value there.

Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
Madness when footballers of his quality go for that amount of money. He is average, not £12M better than Ginge.....what about Oxford too?

Or Pellegrini might be thinking he is the replacement for Reid which is even more worrying

Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
The only reason I can see we would buy these players is if we think we can buy them cheap through clauses and then sell them on for more like Wolves did recently.
Neither Hegazi or Dawson makes our team better and they aren't youngsters who will turn into world beaters. They are defenders in a team that was relegated.

Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
With todays ridiculous prices this might not be a bad move if he can avoid the injury jinx. Good both ends at corners and set pieces, useful addition to the squad.

>>> What I don't understand is not going for Johnny Evans who is better and went to Leicester for £3.5m?

Agreed. But maybe we did go for him. I do think buying Evans as a veteran would seem a slightly odd thing when we've clearly been a bit overloaded with veterans.

Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
I can understand a cheap Dawson as he's a solid Prem performer and only about 27, plus he can play at least two positions so is a useful squad addition.

What I don't understand is not going for Johnny Evans who is better and went to Leicester for £3.5m?

Re: WBA Reject West Ham Bid For Craig Dawson
Hegazi has release clause for 10 mill.
I wouldn't give the Baggies 10 deep fried Mars Bars for that incompetent thug.
As for Dawson, they want over 20 mill. What a joke.

Come back James Tomkins. All is forgiven.

I'd rather have Les.
